Three calls dominate our Steep Falls schedule. First, mice in winter: fall temperature drops and long snow cover drive rodents into wood-frame homes, and a mouse needs a gap about 1/4 inch wide to get in.
We find entry points, seal them, and place snap traps or tam-resistant bait stations. Second, carpenter ants in damp wood: spring snowmelt leaves basements and crawlspaces wet, and wet wood is what they tunnel into. We use a moisture meter to find the source, not just the ants.
Third, seasonal insects. Cluster fly treatment handles the flies that overwinter in wall voids of rural homes, and tick treatment covers yards where humid summers keep populations active.
A few things every Steep Falls customer should know before we arrive:
- Clear access to the attic, basement, and crawlspace so we can inspect fully.
- Store food and dishes before any interior treatment.
- Remove pets before scheduled pesticide application.
- Keep children away until the label’s re-entry interval ends.
Every product we use is EPA-registered, and you can look up its directions and precautions in the EPA Pesticide Product and Label System. Under FIFRA, the label is the law, and we treat it that way.
If your home sits along the Saco River with recurring dampness, we will also talk about drainage and moisture correction, because killing ants without drying the wood just resets the clock. Call (855) 681-0299 to book an inspection.
